The Messenger– September 2019

September ushers in the season for returning. We return to school and routines and, often, if we’ve spent our summer Sundays elsewhere, we return to worship in our communities of faith.
I look forward to seeing YOU in worship!
In addition to Sunday morning worship, at the end of the month we will end our Sabbath keeping from meeting and extra activities and engage again in the usual activities of our life together. As we prepare for that, I invite you again to the questions we agreed to consider together during this time: What did you miss? What didn’t you miss? How does this impact our mission to Active-ly Share Christ’s Love in Community? There will be a number of opportunities to share our thoughts around these and other questions during the month of September.
One of those opportunities is a small group conversation, facilitated by Laura Harris-Ferree, our Minister of Outreach and Community. These conversation groups are limited to six people and will meet throughout the month of September. There is a sign-up sheet on ‘Sign Up Central’; please sign up to indicate your attendance so plans can be made accordingly and the groups can be accessible in size.
On Sunday, September 29th we will BREAK OUR FAST from summer Sabbath rest with a BREAKFAST at 9:15am in Celebration Hall featuring pancakes and much, much more! During worship we will bless our Sunday School teachers.
You’ve likely noticed that the Sanctuary is undergoing some updates, specifically the replacement of the original asbestos backed tile flooring and completing the chapel space in such a way that it will be accessible to all people.
There’s much to anticipate in the days ahead. I hope to hear about what you did with your sum-mer Sabbath. Where did you see signs of God at work in the world? Who showed the face of Christ to you?
Grace and peace,
Pastor Julie Hutson+
