PJ’s Page –
O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine.
Yet all are one, within God’s grand design.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The month of November begins with All Saint’s Sunday, a day we remember and give thanks for the lives of all of the saints….those still with us and those who feast at the heavenly banquet. Everyone is encouraged to bring photos or other remembrances with them for a special display on All Saint’s Sunday, November 4th.
We will also enjoy our first concert of the concert series on November 4th, at 3:00 in the afternoon. “Dreams of Love and Laughter: Music by Poulenc and Mompou” will feature Carissa Castaldo, Soprano and David Horton, Pianist. This will be a marvelous afternoon of music and a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to the first concert of the series.
On November 18th we will have our annual Holiday Bazaar. It’s a great opportunity to do a little early holiday shopping and support the summer Day Camp 2019 at LMLC.
At this writing we are just days away from beginning the remodeling work on the church building. This work will give us a newly remodeled fellowship space, a brand new kitchen, a remodeled office for our musician (no more nursery toys!) and storage for our tables. We’ll have new flooring in that area, too, as well as a new entrance off of 132nd.
As I mentioned during announcements in worship recently, remodeling is chaotic! We have to find storage for things and there will be dust and we’ll move meetings around. But in the end, we will have a beautiful building that will function as it needs to function for our ministry and will work for us as we invite its use by the wider community.
You may also have noticed that the old bench seating in the narthex has been removed. This was done based on congregational feedback and by a vote of the Council. During the remodel, chairs and tables from the Fireside Room will serve our needs AND be stored in the narthex. Upon completion of the remodel, we will have new and more functional furnishings in the narthex.
If you’ve ever remodeled or even built from scratch at home, you know that it can be a disconcerting and chaotic process. Nothing feels that it’s in its place! But it will be absolutely worth it!
I am grateful for your forebearance and patience in this process. We are almost there! The housing looks like homes and soon our church building will serve us as we serve others.
Faithfully,
Pastor Julie
