PJ’s Page –
Recently I’ve listened to several episodes of a podcast entitled “This Movie Changed Me”, hosted by Lily Percy and published by On Being studios. In it, they invite one fan to talk about the transformative power of one movie.
Summer is often a month for blockbuster movies. There are more than a few I’m looking forward to this summer. What about you?
Of course, it wasn’t long before I started to wonder about other things that change our lives.
Are there people who have changed yours? Who are they? Have you told them that they were significant in your life (especially if their significance is positive?)
Are there books that have changed your life? Do you ever take the chance to read them again? For maybe the second or third or tenth time?
Are there songs that changed your life? Maybe even hymns that remind you of the life changing message of the Gospel?
Are there stories or verses in Scripture that changed your life? That were meaningful to you?
And finally, are there movies that changed your life? Do you watch them again and again? What is significant about them?
Maybe when we gather for our Table Talks this summer we’ll have the chance to share the answers to some of these questions! We can come to know one another in new ways. Maybe you also love reading Little Women or watching Modern Family. Maybe you love the song Sweet Home Alabama (okay, that’s probably just me) or A Mighty Fortress is Our God.
In these summer months, my wish for you…no, my prayer for you as your pastor, is that you will find the space to experience and enjoy those things that changed you. May they bring you joy and renewal in these jewel toned days of summer.
Finally, know that serving as your pastor in this place, that is doing such faithful work in this community, has been life changing and life giving for me.
Faithfully,
Pastor Julie+
