PJ’s Page:
It’s the middle of summer already and the world around us is inviting us to think about it’s ending. Back To School! End of Season Clearance!
In the Church Office, we’ve begun planning in earnest for the upcoming program year, even as we trust our time away from committee meetings is proving to be a spiritual Sabbath from busy-ness.
When we were at Holden Village earlier this month, we were blessed to find ourselves in a daily posture of Sabbath keeping. Outside of designated meal times, we kept a very sparse schedule. Available to us every day were opportunities for learning, gathering, worship, and enjoying the glory of Creation around us. We could participate in whatever way we felt our spirits needed and our bodies were capable of. And that made all the difference. It invited us into a rhythm that accompanied our own journey.
My hope for you, as we see signs of summer’s ending ahead, is that you find pockets of holy rest and renewal in your days and weeks and moments. That the breath of God would fill you and sustain you and that you might find places that feel filled with Sabbath.
This is a shorter reflection than I usually offer for the Messenger, but I’m going to let it be just that….shorter….so that I can go rest awhile with God.
Faithfully,
Pastor Julie Hutson+
